Volunteering

Wren's Community Shop is a community run store, working on a purely volunteer basis

Have you ever thought about volunteering at Wren’s?

Volunteering is recognised as benefiting not just the organisation for which we volunteer, but also ourselves. It can help us to make new friends, learn new skills and generally feel happier and healthier.

John

Anyone can become a volunteer at Wren’s, even if they are not a shareholder. We are a happy, friendly, helpful team and always welcome new people. No special qualifications are needed, just a desire to help out with this very successful community venture which is not just a village shop but also a meeting place and much loved village hub.

People can sign up for as few or as many shifts a week as they like. They can do regular shifts each week or just fill in where we have gaps if that is what they prefer.

There are lots of tasks which need to be carried out. Some people want to work on the till, others keep the shelves stocked, take in deliveries, open the shop for business in the morning or close it at the end of the day. Keeping the shelves, floors or windows clean or doing odd jobs such as sweeping leaves and clearing gutters, maintaining the building and undertaking repairs – this is all part of the vital work involved in running the business.

As we are staffed entirely by volunteers we do rely on the community itself to keep everything up and running so anything you feel able to help with is always very much appreciated.

If you would like to volunteer to work at Wren’s just call in and give us your details.
